In the Command Talkback system, it is always the master only that controls the orders. The substations can “talkback” as reply to the orders through speaker-microphones. It is possible to have additional parallel command microphones in other locations in the bridge area, like Bridge Wings. The master can connect any combination of substation lines at the same time to give simultaneous orders.  According to SOLAS/IMO rules it is mandatory to have a Talkback system installed on most types of vessels.

ICE-500 system has line capabilities up to 20 substations. Master station is also equipped with an alpha numeric status display, backlit keypad, dimmer, volume control, integrated loudspeaker and a standard PA output. The master station models ICE-505 / ICE-510 / ICE-515 / ICE- 520 with 5, 10, 15, or 20 substations. Optional Hand microphone or swan neck microphone.
